In July of 1992, Dr. Jim Huffman moved his family to London, Kentucky to open his Ophthalmology practice. This was a culmination of much hard work. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northern Kentucky and was the recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and was elected into the honorary medical fraternity, Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Jim and his wife, Paula, had 3 small children, Jimmy, Sarah, and Rebekah when they moved to London. The next year they had their fourth child, Rachel. The early years were very busy with four children under the age of 6-years-old and the work of starting a solo practice. In July of 1997, Dr. Jim’s brother, Mark, joined him and Huffman and Huffman, PSC was formed.
Fast forward to 25 years later, July 2017, and another Huffman has joined the practice. Sarah Huffman, O.D. Dr. Jim’s son Jimmy is starting the last year of his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Kentucky. Daughter Rebekah is starting the first year of her Ophthalmology residency at the University of Kentucky. The youngest daughter, Rachel, is starting her third year at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.
Dr. Jim’s free time is now filled with gardening, honeybee keeping, caring for his many dogs, and travel. He serves as an elder at The Creek Church.
You could say that Huffman and Huffman, PSC is truly a “family business.”
