Dr. Andrew Pearson

Dr. Andrew Pearson is professor and chairman at the University of Kentucky Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science.

He attended Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA and then completed medical school at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. After completing an internship in internal medicine at Geisinger Medical Center he was a resident in ophthalmology at the University of Kentucky. He then completed a two year fellowship in vitreoretinal disease at Duke University. He has been on faculty at UK since 1994 and has been chair of the department since 2002.

His research focus is on sustained drug delivery for the treatment of retinal disease and has been a key investigator in trials evaluating this technology for CMV retinitis, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and uveitis.

He has been seeing patients with retinal disease at Huffman and Huffman since 1996.
